Watch as I create a new art piece of a chimpanzee, while diving into one of science’s most controversial and emotionally complex topics: animal testing.

In this video, I explore the many layers of animal experimentation—what it means, why it's done, and whether it's truly ethical. From the different types of animal testing to the concept of the Three Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine), I question how we justify using animals in science, especially when they can't give consent.

Referencing ideas like the cognitive trade-off hypothesis, I raise the tough questions many avoid: Can we balance scientific progress with animal welfare? Are there alternatives we’re not exploring deeply enough?

It’s me challenging my thoughts by trying to think more critically and compassionately and inviting you to do that with me.

🔍 Topics covered:

Animal testing in science and medicine

Consent and ethics in animal research

The role of chimpanzees in neuroscience

Wildlife conservation and humane alternatives

*IMPORTANT
If you work in a field that uses animals for research I would love to talk with you and learn more about what you do and what your views are. I hope my video shows that although I have an opinion about this, I'm not here to judge, just to learn and understand so please get in touch with me if you are interested at [email protected]

Lastly, whether you work in the field or not, I think considering we all have probably benefitted from this type of research at some point that we all deserve a space to express our thoughts so please let me know what you think, what you agree with and what you don't :)
