Who's the Largest Defence company in the world?
Well as of 2022 the top 3 largest defence companies were all American, no surprises there. Topping the list was Lockheed Martin with a staggering $63.3 Billion in revenue. This goliath has four main branches, aeronautics, missiles and fire control, rotary and mission systems and space.
Their aeronautics branch is responsible for the F-16, F-22 the new F-35, the C-130 and so so many more legendary aircraft.
Their missiles and fire control arm made the hellfire, javelin, longbow, MLRS , just to name a few.
Their rotary and mission systems branch specialises in a lot of technical components like sonar and radar to the mk41 vertical launching system and aegis combat system. Although they do also make the Desert Hawk UAV and P-3 Orion anti-sub and surveillance aircraft.
Finally you have their Space branch. They’ve worked on numerous projects with NASA from the viking landers, the hubble telescope and orion spacecraft to satellites and missile defence systems.
So it’s no surprise Lockheed Martin are around double the revenue of Netflix each year! In some ways, I’m surprised they aren’t making more!
