Buhe, celebrated on August 19 (13 Nehase in the Ethiopian calendar), commemorates the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ on Mount Tabor. It’s one of Ethiopia’s most vibrant Orthodox traditions — marked by children singing “Hoya Hoye”, families baking Mulmul bread, and communities lighting chibo torches that symbolize the divine light of Christ.
