The game takes place in the 22nd century. Humans have learned to travel through space. The giant trans-nation Alterra launches the Aurora, a spaceship designed to install phase gates. The ship's secondary mission is to search for the mining ship Degasi, which disappeared 10 years ago on the ocean planet 4546B. However, upon entering the atmosphere, the ship is knocked off-planet by a powerful energy pulse. At the last moment, the player jumps into an escape pod but is knocked unconscious by a panel flying off the hull, striking the player on the head. After waking up, the player begins to survive.
