Since the crucian carp on Lake Uelgi have gone dormant this winter and aren't biting much, I decided to explore a new crucian carp pond in the Kurgan Region. It's about 280 km from Yekaterinburg, or a 4.5-hour drive.
I misjudged the timing and arrived just before sunset, so I didn't have much time to find crucian carp before dark.
But in the end, I caught a crucian carp, and it was a blast.
However, the crucian carp were quite small compared to the usual Uelgi ones.
I dozed off periodically during the night while fishing, as the return trip wasn't short. But I did catch a couple dozen crucian carp, and initially released a few because they seemed a bit small, but that's the standard size for this body of water.
❗ 👉 Along the road near Shadrinsk, there are hundreds of roe deer in the fields on both sides. Be careful if you're heading that way and driving after dark.

Whether or not to travel such a long distance for small crucian carp is up to each individual to decide...
