Three of the main representatives of Soviet psychology – Leontiev, Luria, and Vygotsky – are present in this collection, organized by professors from the Institute of Biomedicine and the Faculty of Education at USP. Focused on themes belonging to cognitive psychology (perception, memory, attention, problem-solving, speech, motor activity), the three Soviet authors studied everything from neurophysiological processes to the relationships between intellectual functioning and the culture in which individuals are embedded. Thus, they worked intensively not only with topics in developmental psychology, but also with the relationships between language and thought, with implications for neurology, psychiatry, and education.
