Golden Temple on the Outside, 60,000 Dead Bodies on the Inside...

So this temple looks super peaceful and beautiful right? Well... it's literally built on top of 60,000 dead bodies. And the story gets way darker...
Back in the 1800s Bangkok got hit with this massive cholera outbreak and people were dying SO fast they couldn't keep up with cremations. At one point they were burning 696 bodies a day here. DAILY. And then thousands of vultures just... covered everything. The trees, the walls, the roofs. Locals were so freaked out they called this place "Ghost Gate" for like a hundred years.
Wild right? And now it's one of the most chill temples in Bangkok.
But honestly this place is amazing. The views from the top are ridiculous - you get 360° of old Bangkok mixed with all the skyscrapers. Plus it's not packed with tourists like Wat Pho, the climb is actually really nice with all these bells and gardens, and it only costs 100 baht to go up.

This honestly became one of my favorite temples after learning the whole story. There's something about standing where all that happened and seeing how beautiful and peaceful it is now...
