A keyboard is small computer in itself.
It has its own processor and circuitry that carries information to and from that processor
Beneath the keys there is a small piece of rubber that stops the key from moving down and pushes it back up when you release the key
There are 3 separate transparent plastic layers which detects the keys when you press a key
Two of them are covered in electrically conducting metal tracks and there is an insulating layer between them with holes in it
The dotes are places where the keys press the 2 conducting layers together
The lines are electrical connections that allow tiny electrical current to flow when the layers are pressed tight to one another by a key moving down from above
