In this video, I explain how to set up your system to bake textures using your GPU instead of your CPU. I only have Nvidia cards, so it may not work with other setups and I don't know if it's the same process.

Baking a combined pass (or baking your lighting information) to a Suzanne monkey head to a 4k texture, at 256 samples took my CPU 3 hours and 36 minutes, and it took my GPU 7 minutes and 1 second!

I have an RTX 2080 Max Q in an MSI laptop.

The key is to go to preferences, then System, then under Cycles Render devices, DON'T use OptiX and instead choose CUDA but MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK your CPU.
