I like very simple things:
Home comfort, wax candles,
And slippers, and a warm blanket on the shoulders -
Everything that is available in everyday life is humane.
And dinners, and breakfasts, and books
At dinner, at breakfast, at tea.
And I know that I will not get bored,
Having put on the soft chains of comfort.
I like simple things to the point of stupefaction:
So that I, when it is not necessary, do not catch a cold,
So that life is always covered from behind
From the evil raging elements.
Close the window with a trusting hand
From the stormy gusts of bad weather.
Storms and adversities will pass me by
On the island of domestic peace.
Let someone shed bloody sweat,
Trying to destroy the universe,
Let fiery souls rebel,
Huddle into evil flocks of loners;
And a prophetic raven will sit on the window
And croak a divine word to me.
I will smile. I am ready for feats.
But I need completely different things.
