Two sisters – complete opposites. Polina is a city girl who works at a major book publishing house. Masha is a simpleton from the countryside who spends her days pottering around in her garden, preparing farm produce to sell to visiting merchants. Polina's fiancé is her boss, a prominent businessman. Masha's suitor is Vasya, a hard worker and a true gentleman. Everything changes overnight when Polina's boss's wife, whom he had somehow forgotten to divorce, shows up at the publishing house, depriving her of both her fiancé and her job. The quiet life in Lopushki is suddenly turned upside down when food buyers set a condition for the villagers: either they cut their prices in half, or they won't buy anything from them at all...
