This "Forgotten" Comic Helped Inspire The Gorillaz??
Some of the iconic imagery used in creating the band the Gorillaz can be traced back to this long lost 90s indie comic Get The Freebies. Created by Jamie Hewlett and Mat Wakeham Get The Freebies was a satirical, punk in spirit outing, focusing on the adventures of Terry Phoo and Whitey Action. The series ran for a year in The Face magazine and was meant to have a sequel series Phoo Action which was cancelled. Now collected for the first time not only the original series, but the sequel, new prose, details about the failed tv series and much more. It's a trip into obscure indie comic history as we review the Silver Jubilee release here on Casually Comics!
