20/07/2013 Tour de Spud's Flirting Failure
This Saturday Rub clip features JB, Garry, Spud and Damo with Purple critiquing some of Spud's work during the week, at the request of Gaz. Spud's been seen on some "off Broadway" show about cycling where he was introduced as an "expert"! Spud tries to pull him up by suggesting he's just flattening a top-notch segment. But it doesn't work, because he's been caught flirting with one of the hosts of the show, and there's no stopping that. They run the clip and it's revealed he refers to Bridie as a beautiful lady. Listen to the reaction of Garry when she wonders if she has a date with Spud. Even Spud admits it was poor, as he refers to himself as "sharp as a bowling ball". But it's not over yet. Damo had some stuff prepared to get Spud back and rolls a clip from half time at a game he was critiquing last week for Foxtel. At half time, he claims it's been a game of two halves. I don't think that's quite possible either but I think they're clutching at straws because I know what he meant. Spud won't take it lying down, as he continues his Garry impression from the Desperate Demon article earlier. And throws in some more trumpeting. Spud's metaphor is a brilliant one, though. He thinks Damo's work in this segment is the equivalent of Stony Creek maidens whereas his work on the Desperate Demon article was Group One category.
