Julie Bowers Murphy is best known for her lonely, cinematic figurative paintings and soft-edged landscapes. Her work as a painterly realist references bygone eras in an effort to preserve quiet, introspective moments.
Julie’s work has been shown at The Edward Hopper House Art Museum, Prince Street Gallery in NYC, Watson Kennedy in Seattle, and other galleries throughout New England.
As with her work for her award-winning design company, Jack and Lulu, Julie's paintings are strongly influenced by her connection to the sea.
“I feel obliged to present an alternate, more beautiful world through my art that allows an escape from the non-stop, harsh, disposable imagery of
the current digital era.”
Julie resides and works in Connecticut and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
