Turning a passion into a career - Featuring Adelyn McKenna
Adelyn McKenna was confident college wasn’t for her. Never a fan of school, she changed her mind after visiting campus during her junior year of high school.
“I just really liked the environment and the community,” she said. “Everyone here seemed like they really enjoyed what they were doing.” It just made me feel more at ease about my future.”
Adelyn enrolled in the Graphic Design program to pursue her love of art. While a student, she worked in the Hawkeye Art Gallery as a gallery assistant, and had her work shown in the Student Art Show. She got a design job with Corkery & Corkery, and is quickly building her portfolio, including work for My Waterloo Days.
“Because of Hawkeye, I am ready to live out the rest of my dream as an artist doing the thing that I've loved for my entire life,” she said.
