How to make Linux Mint clock synchronise with Internet time servers. Many services and apps require correct timekeeping which is what forced me to find a solution to this issue.
It would seem you would need 'NTP' installed for Internet time to work, however, here we will remove ntp and install systemd-timesyncd via the software manager and our clock now sync’s with time servers.
A fresh install of Linux Mint (Cinnamon, Mate or Xfce) 21.3 works as is, upgrading from earlier versions may not install systemd-timesyncd resulting in non-synchronisation.
A fresh install of the Linux Mint Mate 21.2 then upgrading to 21.3 removed ntp but failed to install systemd-timesyncd as required. Just remove ntp if present, and install systemd-timesyncd if your system is the same.
Time website used in the video:
https://time.is/
Remove: ntp
Install: systemd-timesyncd
Command to see status in terminal: timedatectl
Install via terminal:
apt purge ntp
apt install systemd-timesyncd
not sure if this one is even needed:
timedatectl set-ntp true
Do at your own risk as usual. It worked for me.
