When designing systems, we strive for modularity and try to avoid complexity. However, the results often turn out to be the opposite. Why is this? In this talk, Vlad will examine the nature of modularity and complexity, highlighting their surprising similarities. You will learn the forces that push architecture in one direction or another and discover how to harness these forces to design modular systems.
Vlad Khononov is an architect with over 20 years of industry experience. He has worked for both large and small companies in positions ranging from webmaster to chief architect.
A longtime proponent of domain-driven design and evolutionary architecture, he helps companies understand their business domains, disentangle monoliths, and solve complex architectural problems.
Vlad contributes to the media as a writer. He wrote the book Learning Domain-Driven Design (published by O'Reilly) and is currently working on Balancing Coupling in Software Design for Addison Wesley. He is a speaker at numerous conferences on domain-driven design, microservices, and software architecture in general.
