Learn how to prepare your script for responsible AI coverage -- NO AI GENERATED SUGGESTIONS!

Starting your journey into screenwriting? This video provides an introduction to screenwriting using Fade In software, guiding you through its interface and essential features. Learn how to write a script from scratch and master the basics of writing a screenplay with this helpful tutorial for screenwriting for beginners. It's time to elevate your scriptwriting skills!

In this step-by-step tutorial, Matt Weiner demonstrates how to properly break down a script, export it with accurate page numbers, and process it in Colab to avoid token limit issues. This walkthrough uses Adobe Acrobat Pro, Google Colab, and a custom token counter notebook (linked below) to ensure your screenplay is ready for AI analysis.

Step-by-Step Instructions (Chunking & Using Colab)
1. Prepare the PDF: Open your screenplay in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Remove title page.
2. Add page numbers: Insert headers with page numbers in “Page X of N” format. Use Courier New, size 12, with dashes around numbers to avoid confusion.
3. Chunk the screenplay: Split the script into 30-page segments with a 4-page overlap. This ensures context continuity.
4. Export as accessible text: Export each chunk as “accessible text,” not plain text, to preserve headers and page numbers.
5. Name files correctly: Use a format like scriptname_page001-030.txt. For scripts over 100 pages, include leading zeros.
6. Open Google Colab: Use the provided notebook (link in description). Upload it into Colab.
7. Run the notebook: Click the play button to activate the tokenizer script.
8. Upload chunks: Select all your text chunk files and upload them.
9. Check token counts: Verify that each chunk’s token count falls within the acceptable range.
10. Validate: Ensure Colab outputs “ok” after each chunk, confirming no token limit issues.

This method ensures your screenplay is AI-ready for Part Two, where Matt demos his customGPT for responsible coverage.
