This is a blind playthrough with no commentary of the free indie horror game MapFriend, developed and published by Adam Pype (papercookies) and released in November 2022.

Game Description: Exploring is FUN with MapFriend!

What a creative and unique idea for a horror game! At first, it just seemed like a cute little exploration Google Maps simulator. But of course, we learn that's not the case...as each location we explore seems to have a meaning and relevance to the actual story. At the end, we discover a plane that crashed and can assume that the pilot may have been the only survivor and feels a lot of guilt over the crash...or at least that's what I'm gathering from all of this. The locations we visit previously before discovering the plane were probably areas that the pilot had thought about landing, but decided not to for whatever reason. Instead, he chose to land in the middle of the forest which ultimately was the worst possible place to land, thus now feeling extreme guilt and regret for his decision. I may be wrong with my assumptions and theories, but if that's really the case...then bravo to the game developer! In fact, this game may even be inspired by the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which was a real life historical event that occurred back in 2014. Either way, this game was a tragic yet wildly creative way to tell a horrific story!
