I managed to get REAPER 5.980 (native Linux version), Ardour, LinuxSampler, ZynAddSubFX, Surge and TAL plugins working on Linux Mint 19.1. I spent a few days playing with Ardour and LV2 plugins (LV2 is not supported in REAPER yet) but I dearly missed Reaper's MIDI Editor and MIDI Overdub recording mode.
I still need to install SWS Extensions, my preferred RADO theme, and the DrivenByMoss script for my Ableton Push. My Behringer UMC204HD and borrowed Launchkey 25 Mk1 worked without any additional drivers.
In future I will try a different desktop environment, because it often felt like XFCE was working against me (not letting me run scripts from the File Manager, and forgetting my dual screen configuration, both of which I found solutions for, but they took time to learn).
