THE HAUNTED VOGUE THEATRE in HOLLYWOOD
HAUNTED HOLLYWOOD HISTORY:
Just in time for Halloween in Hollywod.
Did you know the final chapter of Hollywood's most haunted movie theater ended because of its ghosts?
🎬👻In the late 1990s, filmmaker and distributor Jorge Ameer took a massive gamble on the historic Vogue Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. He re-opened the 1935 Art Deco landmark as an independent cinema, screening buzzy indie films.
He would ultimately go down in history as the very last movie exhibitor to run the building as a traditional commercial theater.
But Ameer’s cinematic run wasn't cut short by low ticket sales—it was cut short by the paranormal.
The Vogue had built such a terrifying reputation as the most haunted theater in Hollywood that a professional ghost-hunting team, the International Society for Paranormal Research (ISPR), stepped in.
They leased the venue right out from under the theatrical operations to set up their official paranormal headquarters, effectively ending the building’s life as a movie palace.
According to investigators and local folklore, the spirits that pushed cinema out included:Fritz (or Felix) the Projectionist: The ghost of a 40-year technician who died of a heart attack in the booth and allegedly stuck around to protect his equipment.
The 1901 Schoolhouse Fire: Long before the theater was built, the lot was home to Prospect Elementary School. A tragic 1901 fire destroyed the building, and psychics claimed the spirits of a teacher and her students still roamed the property.
Danny: A resident maintenance engineer spirit who was frequently spotted in the back corridors.
When Jorge Ameer left, it marked the true end of an era.
But the story takes a fascinatingly ironic turn.
Today, the theater has been repurposed into a church auditorium for Victory Outreach Ministries.
In a brilliant twist of fate, the ultimate spiritual battleground of
Hollywood is now being used to cast out the very darkness and paranormal entities that made it famous in the first place! Talk about a complete spiritual takeover. 🙏✨#HAUNTEDHOLLYWOOD #HollywoodHistory #JorgeAmeer #VogueTheatre #GhostStories #ClassicCinema #LAHistory #Paranormal #Irony #AdaptiveReuse
