WFCO Converter Auto-Detect Issues and Solution
Ever since I upgraded to LFE (LiFePO4) batteries in my Mission Overland Summit, the WFCO converter has been nothing but issues. The unit that was installed in my trailer was the WFCO 8735AD, the AD means Auto-Detect. I was only able to get the converter to enter the LI mode once, and it only stayed in this mode for a few days before reverting back to Lead Acid profile. After researching and contacting support, the only way to get the converter back in to the LI profile was to drain the batteries down to near 0%. I also had issues where the converter stopped working all together, not only did it not charge it did not provide 12 volt power when on shore power. After much frustration, I swapped out the WFCO for a Progressive Dynamics 4135 (https://amzn.to/3KfxPK9). For the most part it was a direct replacement, only needing new holes for mounting the unit in the trailer. It only took around 1 hour to fully swap it out and test the system. So far the Progressive Dynamics unit has been rock solid. I will provide another video update after a few trips.
