The Envoy proxy has upgraded UDP support to non-alpha, meaning people are using the UDP proxy in production, says Matt Klein. And there’s a DNS filter in progress. There are more changes planned: eventually, the UDP proxy should support generic protocol hashing so that you can use it for, different types of UDP protocols; that does not exist yet. But in terms of the core proxying support, it should be production ready.
Matt Klein, creator of the Envoy proxy, and Lizan Zhou, a Tetrate engineer and senior maintainer of Envoy answer questions about Envoy architecture, security, extensibility, and more in this “Ask Me Anything” webinar hosted by Tetrate on 6/09/2020. Tia Louden moderates.
