Murdock, Dignified General (Track 09) - Fire Emblem 6 Arrangement Album || Lolo S
Track 9 of my Fire emblem: The Binding Blade arrangement album
This track is an arrangement of 3 songs from the OST which I chose to represent Murdock and the fight against him. The first of these is 'Final Chapter', which first plays just before the chapter you fight him, then it transitions to Murdock's personal theme 'Dignified', and finally the wyvern general battle theme 'In the Name of Bern'.
I didn't decide to dedicate many tracks to specific characters (there aren't many yet to come now), but I thought having one for Murdock would be quite fitting, given that he's not only one of the 3 wyvern generals of Bern, but King Zephiel's own personal guard.
Starting off, it was quite tricky to get this sounding the way I wanted, but I found that once I found my footing with the harmony, everything else fell into place. Most of this track isn't very harmonically complex, it mostly focuses on the tonic pedal and 5/power chords, much like what I did for the battle preparations theme, and when it does move from the tonic, it's mostly through stepwise movements.
I definitely had the most fun arranging the battle theme at the end, it doesn't come out in all my music, but I'm a huge metalhead, so a super fast 5/8 jam got me pretty excited. I've never done much polymetric stuff, but it felt like this song was begging for it, so I tried it and I'm really happy with how it came out.
