Here I show how to apply Briwax to wood by hand. It's a simple process, and quick, and produces a durable low sheen finish. The more you apply and buff the higher the shine can get. It also works great as a cleaner for other finishes (read the indications on the can/literature and test on an inconspicuous area first).

• Sand and remove all dust
• Apply wax to wood (work in small sections, like 1sq ft at a time)
• Burnish with #0000 steel wool (rub with the grain to avoid scratching - steel wool is still an abrasive)
• Buff with a clean cloth (to get a higher gloss you'll need to apply several coats of wax and buff)

You can repeat the application & buff processes as desired. A machine polisher will greatly reduce the manual labor and time to completion of buffing.

If you're going to be handling the piece extensively, exposing it to moisture or high heat then you'll want to go with another finish better suited for those circumstances.
