Gameplay of the sub-boss Ganesha The Elephant in Eighting/Hudson Soft’s Bloody Roar Primal Fury.
Ganesha is a new sub-boss introduced to the game, I guess because a fighting game with a mid-boss and no sub-boss feels a bit weird. Ganesha is that sub-boss, somewhat based on the Indian god Ganesha, who is usually depicted as a sort of human/elephant hybrid. There’s a slight problem with Ganesha though. He’s kinda shit. His design is quite good (although that elephant beast form just looks silly), but his attacks are extremely slow, don’t combo very easily (if at all) and on the whole he is a horribly tedious character to play as, mainly relying on (ineffective) counters and counter moves in order to subdue his enemy. The only useful thing about him is his super move, and that’s not saying much. I felt like if this character was in a different, slightly more grounded fighting game then it would have suited him, but Bloody Roar 3 is combo city and if you can’t match up to your opponent’s speed then you’ll be crushed pretty quickly. It’s a similar issue we’ll see with the later Souls game, actually. And, indeed, I could neither go far with Ganesha, nor did I want to. What a waste. Not a character I liked very much, personally, and certainly not one I could really recommend.
Next up, it’s more weird shit. You’re not gonna believe this one.
