Before diving deep into the process of Client creation, we need to first understand what is the use of a client in SAP. A client is used in SAP system for multiple login on single instance. It provides data security, where one user with one client cannot see the data of the other user with another client. A client is defined as a self-contained commercial, organizational, and technical unit within an SAP System. This means that all business data within a client is protected from other clients. Each client has its own customer data, which can be considered as the exclusive property of this client.
The SAP System comes with the following three standard clients –
000 Client or the Master Client
001 Client and is the copy of the Master Client
066 Client which is called the SAP Early watch used for diagnostic scans and monitoring service in the SAP system.
The following are the steps to create a new client in SAP:
1. Start by using the transaction code – SCC4
2. To create a new client, enter the below details after clicking on New Entries.
Client number and name
City
Currency, Roles
3. Enter your client-specific data and set permission for the clients as per your requirement and click on Save.
4. Now, if you go to the Display Client list, Transaction SCC4 -- Display -- New client will be added.
