#monera #protista #fungi
This video explains the three kingdoms: Monera, Protista, and Fungi, as teaching material for Grade 7 science.
The word "Monera" comes from the Greek word "moneres," meaning "single." Therefore, Monera are living organisms with a single cell (unicellular). Monera are prokaryotic, meaning they lack a nuclear membrane (more precisely, the nuclear membrane is not yet fully formed).
Protista are generally unicellular, but there are also multicellular protists, such as marine algae. Some protists are autotrophic, while others are heterotrophic, living freely in the sea, freshwater, or as parasites of other living things. Unlike Monera, protista have a nuclear membrane, making them eukaryotic organisms. Fungi are a group of eukaryotic organisms, mostly multicellular, but some are unicellular. Their characteristic feature is their thallus, which consists of hyphal threads that form a mycelium. They obtain nutrition by directly absorbing organic matter (they are heterotrophic).
