Welcome to our channel! In this video, we delve into Yates' continuity correction, a crucial statistical technique for chi-square tests of independence in 2x2 contingency tables, particularly when sample sizes are small.
We illustrate this with an example comparing the effectiveness of a drug against a placebo. With a total sample size of just 29, our initial chi-square value was 5.992. Applying Yates' correction, which adjusts for continuity in the chi-square distribution to better fit the discrete nature of small sample data, we recalculated the chi-square value to 4.302, yielding a p-value of 0.038.
