On the north-eastern edge of Poland, by the side of a lake, stands a house of women – mothers, daughters, and sisters. From generation to generation, they pass down inaccessibility, resilience, and family secrets. Twenty-year-old Łucja will only be able to begin an independent life once she confronts the truth about her family. An unexpected encounter with a mysterious Doctor sets off a chain of events. An old clarinet leads Łucja to a story long erased from the pages of the family album. For Łucja to hear the melody of her own life, all veils must be lifted and transgressions forgiven.
Against the backdrop of the wild, post-glacial landscapes of the Suwalki Gap and the Klezmer Orchestra from Sejny, whose music bridges past and present, fiction and reality.
The film is part of the Main Competition of the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
