♫ Treasure Gnomes & Lachi - Messages
Lachi: "I really enjoyed working on this track. Everyone's experienced that moment where they still hit 'send' despite all the advice in the world. I know I have. I always enjoy exploring the more urban timbre to my vocals and writing, and marrying that with EDM."
The song started as a rambling love/hate letter by Treasure Gnomes to an ex. Lachi fell in love with the angst and whipped it into a song. The two worked virtually along with Mixcube Studios to create "Messages."
♫ Lyrics
I saw you talkin’ with your friends
And I wonder do you ever mention me?
But what could you really know
When you don’t take the time to pay attention though?
I see the way the you glance at me,
But I don’t mean shit on the Gram to you
I don’t mean shit on the Gram to you
You got me all in my feelin’s
You got me hopin’ for healin’
I know next time I see you in the street
That it’s on me to speak ‘cause i’m done with my diary
It’s on me to speak ‘cause i’m done with my diary
You got me leavin’ messages
You got me on that hang up, call back,
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
You got me leavin’
You got me leavin’ messages
You got me leavin’ messages
You got me on that hang up, call back,
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
‘Cause i’m think ‘bout every weekend
An’ I’m thinkin bout you thru the week
Got my mind racing,
Got my heart racing
Leavin’ messages after the beep
Need you to hear me yuh
I’m aware that it’s crazy
I need you to hear me yeah
I’m no longer up at all hours
Devoured, i’m finding my energy
Bearing my soul to you
‘Cause i ain’t gotta worry about my read receipts
I think about you when i’m eatin’
Think about you scared of sleepin’
Cause you got me leavin’ messages
You got me on that hang up, call back,
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
You got me leavin’
You got me leavin’ messages
Cause you got me leavin’ messages
You got me on that hang up, call back,
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
Sayin’ things nobody ought to hear
You got me leavin 'em
Messages
Got me leavin’ ‘em
‘Cause I need you to hear me yuh
