As a practical follow up to the previous Back-End Design Video, I wanted to discuss Multiplayer Solutions for Unity both in term of Self-Hosted as well as Managed Solutions that currently exist on the market. While there are a lot of different features that could differentiate each of these solutions from each other, I wanted to break them into these two groups to simplify the comparisons and really focus on the core metrics I would use to evaluate each solution : development time and pricing.
And while there is a lot that will differentiate each of the solutions mentioned in this video, there is a lot of common features that they all share
1) Providing a concept of Rooms to have players compete
2) A message relay server to allow players to communicate with one another
3) a Unity Client SDK to abstract out all the networking TCP / UDP requirements
