Palos Verdes Peninsula High School's 8th Grade Open House Video 2009
"The annual Open House will be held on January 28 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Both prospective and current students have the opportunity to talk to teachers and students about campus life at Peninsula High. In most of the classrooms, teachers and students both will show demonstrations including robotics, glass blowing, speech/debate, teen court, choir and drama.
To further familiarize eighth graders with Peninsula High, Principal Kelly Johnson, along with ASB, will hold a special program in the gym featuring an introduction video made by the Eye of the Panther Director, junior Colin Sommer. Running roughly around ten minutes, this film will feature a handful of student representatives and show clips of Peninsula High at work and at play.
"We are letting these eighth graders see what Peninsula High is all about: its heart and soul," said associate principal, Mitzi Cress, "after this exciting night, these students can then make the best decisions for themselves. Remember, informed decisions are good decisions!"
After the video, teachers will once again open their classrooms to answer addition questions. Any questions about athletics will be answered from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the library; however, due to the rules of the California Interscholastic Federation, the coaches are forbidden from contacting non-high school students. ASB will also hold a barbecue fundraiser and clubs will sell various types of foods for the guests during Open House, so attendees need not worry about dinner."
