Speed and overall fitness are very relative concepts. We discussed this in the episode "Why Are You Slow" on our channel - • Стать быстрее ⚡️ в беге! План действий ☝️ ...
And there we also came to the conclusion that it only makes sense to compare yourself to yourself. That's what we'll do today, comparing me at different points in my running life, and even with me... before I started running.
The most obvious change is the length of my runs.
In December of last year, 2019, a distance of about 3 km was the maximum I could run, regardless of my pace.
I ran my first 10 km on April 16th, and it was an incredible achievement!
Now, 10 km is a normal distance for me; almost every workout ends up being around that distance. And just a week ago, I ran 22 km in a three-hour run.
As for my running pace, my current race pace for a 10 km run is 5:40. While that's not exactly incredible, it's worth remembering that nine months ago, I couldn't run at all. For a complete beginner, I think that's quite a decent result. But what led to this progress? Let's try to figure it out.
