If the coffee machine starts heating immediately and continuously when plugged in – even before it's switched on [00:24, 00:44] – this is usually due to a defective power transistor (triac) on the circuit board. This has a permanent continuity [01:40, 06:32] and continuously supplies the boiler with power until the thermal fuses finally trip at 175 °C to prevent further damage [00:56, 23:35]!
I'll guide you through the challenging circuit board repair and show you each soldering step:
Replacing the triac (tip for more power): We desolder the original, overloaded triac (T620, 12A) from the heatsink [05:47] and replace it with the more powerful model BT139-800 [06:04]! It's identical in construction but can handle 16A instead of 12A [06:07], thus offering significantly greater protection against thermal overload in everyday use.
I'll take you through the challenging circuit board repair and show you each soldering step. Changing the fuse (avoid the trap!): A wiring error on my part at the boiler caused a nasty short circuit that blew the main fuse and made the display go completely dark [11:07, 11:31]! My urgent advice when buying: Make sure you get a miniature fuse with pre-attached solder wires! Since I had bought regular fuses without wires, I had to painstakingly solder wires from an old circuit board [14:38, 14:56, 17:00].
Circuit board wiring made easy: Don't be intimidated by the tangle of wires [21:00]! The Saeco Incanto connectors are keyed, so almost no plug will fit incorrectly into another socket [21:12]. I'll explain the wiring of the ground connections [21:55] and how the gray and black wires are connected via the 175°C safety thermostats [23:29].
Since I do everything myself, there isn't much time to get everything perfect – but this video provides you with the most honest, unvarnished, and absolutely practical instructions straight from my workshop. Learn from my mistakes and give soldering a try!

If your espresso machine starts boiling the water loop the very second you plug it into the wall socket – before you even press the power button [00:24, 00:44] – your board has a shorted power transistor (triac) with permanent electrical continuity [01:40]. This forces the boiler to overheat until the 175 °C thermal safety fuses trip to prevent a fire [00:56, 23:35].

The Heavy-Duty Triac Upgrade: We desolder the weak, short-circuited OEM triac (12A) from its aluminum heatsink bracket [05:47] and replace it with a heavy-duty BT139-800 core [06:04]. It shares the same footprint but handles 16A instead of 12A, providing a much better thermal buffer [06:07]!
The Fuse Pitfall: Due to a wiring mix-up at the boiler during my first tests, I caused a short circuit that blew the main fuse and left the display completely dead [11:07, 11:31]. My urgent workshop advice: Make sure to buy glass fuses with pre-attached wire leads! Because I accidentally bought standard fuse caps without leads, I had to tedious-weld jumper wires from an old donor board [14:38, 17:00].
