The Giant Russian Space Mirror That Turned Night Into Day
For a few hours, just before dawn on the night of February 4, 1993, a giant spotlight, 5 kilometers in diameter, streaked across Europe from west to east before disappearing into the morning light over Belarus. Those caught in the path of the beam reported seeing a momentary flash of pale, silvery light.
