Kingdom of Bhutan.

Little is known about the land that is said to be home to some of the happiest people. Miro and I had planned to visit the kingdom as early as 2020. We had prepaid everything, but when the pandemic came our plans fell through.

The local agency was very correct and refunded our money. Special thanks to Bhutan Travel Guru and especially to its owner and manager Mr. Tsheten!

During the pandemic, the country was totally isolated and there was no way for us to visit it. At the end of last year, shortly before we left for Peru, we received a letter from Mr. Tsheten that the government will open the country to foreign visitors. We found out that the fee they charge each tourist has been increased almost three times which was not good news. 😊 Because we had paid everything in 2020, we were offered to visit Bhutan at the old prices. How nice these people are! We set things in motion and began to make a plan.

To visit Bhutan you need an agency that is licensed by the government, otherwise you will not get a visa and you will not be able to buy a plane ticket. Everything related to tourism is strictly controlled by the government. Only Bhutanese airlines land at the only airport in the country, which is also considered among the most dangerous in the world. It is surrounded by high mountains and the plane winds like a snake as it approaches the runway.
Spring in Bhutan turned out to be a wonderful and very beautiful time. My excitement getting off the plane at the almost empty airport was great. Many years ago I told myself that I wouldn't expect too much from the places I visit just to not be disappointed. But I couldn't last here. My expectations were high and the first hours spent in this relatively difficult to access country confirmed them. This is one of the few authentic and preserved places I have come across.

Right from the airport our tour started and our first stop was the historical museum in Paro. Photography inside, as in all temples in Bhutan, is prohibited. I believe that we will still be able to convey the atmosphere that we felt.

I will be glad if you liked the video. Expect the sequel soon.
I'm Laura. Have a nice trip! 😊
