Janie Frandsen is a PhD candidate in the Henkin lab in the Department of Microbiology. She developed an interest in antibiotic development and regulatory RNAs from bacteria while an undergraduate at Denison University where she studied an RNA thermometer from Salmonella. In 2014 she joined the Ohio State Biochemistry Program and switched her focus to riboswitches. Her graduate research focuses on studying the structure-function relationship of a T-box riboswitch from Mycobacterium.
