A petite girl and a stately, noble young man, Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov.
They won Olympics and world championships. They were loved all over the world. And they loved each other.
They met when he was 15 and she was 11. The talented skaters were paired together and for several years they skated like brother and sister.
But the children quickly grew up, turning into wonderful swans dancing on the ice.
After their triumphant victory at the 1988 Olympics, they traveled to Paris… the city of love… and after that trip, they no longer hid their shared happiness. In 1991, they married and
they had a daughter, Daria.
The skaters were the perfect couple. Beautiful, smart, kind, talented, and, most importantly, loving. Their every move, on and off the ice, reflected respect and support for each other.
But tragedy soon struck…
