This course teaches the basics of developing research forms for data collection. It covers designing and administering online forms, as well as conducting a manual data collection process.
This course covers the following topics:
• Definitions of the following terms: Form, survey, questionnaire, instrument, domain, item, subscale, validation rules, and many more.
• Processes used when collecting research data using forms, both paper and online
• An introduction to each of the six courses in the course series, with an explanation of what we will cover in each course, and
• An introduction to the research scenario that we will be using to tie together all of the research form activities we will be doing throughout all six courses.
Course audience
• Graduate students collecting data for their theses or dissertations
• Academic researchers and data scientists who want to improve their data measurement and research data collection skills
• Qualitative researchers who want to learn how to collect quantitative data
• Anyone who wants to improve their data science and data collection skills.
Most of the downloadable resources shown in Course 1 are available when the learner takes Courses 2 through 6. Course 1 just provides a preview of these resources.
