In 1988, New Democrat Svend Robinson became the first Canadian parliamentarian to publicly acknowledge that he was gay. Since then, members of Canada’s LGBTQ+ community have been elected to represent the country’s major political parties in Parliament.
Coming Out in Politics features interviews with politicians from Canada’s major political parties, including Randy Boissonnault, Seamus O’Regan, Blake Desjarlais and Eric Duncan discuss the challenges they have faced as politicians who are members of the LGBTQ+ community.
