My Audio Kit for Filmmaking
Today I’m breaking down my full audio kit for indie filmmaking — the exact gear I use on short films and low-budget productions. I’m an indie filmmaker, working mostly self-funded, so every piece of gear needs to be affordable, reliable and good enough for film-quality dialogue without hiring a full sound team. This kit isn’t a “professional sound recordist” setup, but for low-budget filmmaking, YouTube filmmaking, short films and solo shooters, it covers most situations: boom pole recording, on-camera audio, dual-system recording, timecode sync and wind protection. The only things noticeably missing are high-end lavalier mics and a pro shotgun upgrade, but renting lavs keeps costs down.
