In Russia, some pensioners will receive a pension increase starting June 1st. First, the increase will apply to those who quit their jobs in February 2022. Payments will be increased automatically, without the need to apply. A law will also come into effect this summer, changing the procedure for calculating survivor's insurance pensions. According to the law, adult high school graduates receiving these benefits will retain their right to this payment until September 1.
Furthermore, if a graduate intends to continue their education, they will continue to receive their pension until age 23, and no application is required. Furthermore, the new law does not require proof of support for the deceased breadwinner's children, who have reached the age of eighteen and are studying full-time, including at foreign institutions outside of Russia.
It is also quite possible that pensions for all pensioners will increase starting June 1, as on May 9, the Russian government presented the president with an initiative and proposals for additional indexation of pensions and social benefits. Labor Minister Anton Kotyakov noted that such measures will help slow the decline in real incomes.
