So....... this is my first attempt at a major multi-location, multi-day time lapse video. I took my GoPro Hero2 to Squaw for a weekend with some buddies and took a load of photos and some video in an attempt to edit them together in one short video with a cohesive story. This is that attempt. A semi-poor attempt, but putting it out there is the only way I'll get better!
Things I learned... SET ALL CAMERAS TO THE SAME SETTINGS!!!!!! DOH!
I had 3 GoPros... full res photos (easy to resize in a batch edit) with 1280x960 and 1280x720 videos. This was super clear HD until I had to render the 960 files (all the photos and most of the video) down to 720 to get the other few videos in there. It all went to grainy poo at that point. I don't have any fancy editing software so this was ALL done in Quicktime Pro, and QT doesn't do a downrender well (as I learned). Lastly - I couldn't find a good song for the last segment... M83 is a bit overplayed.... but it was the lesser of the evils. (Also my first time sound mixing or editing - not sure which is which)
Lots of lessons learned for future edits. Feel free to tell me how I can edit better... and yes... we are not professional boarders and/or skiers, but we can race past about 98% of the people on most mountains.
