The Don Bosco Museum of Indigenous Cultures, popularly called the Don Bosco Museum (DBM) is located at the hillock of Mawlai, Shillong (Meghalaya) is Asia’s largest Museum of Indigenous Cultures of its kind. DBCIC consists of Don Bosco Museum, Research on indigenous cultures, publications and sharing of knowledge on indigenous cultures with the help of multi-media, seminars, courses, workshops and DVDs.The Museum is a seven-floor bulding with many galleries showcasing the 8 States of North East India under one roof. With 56,000 sq.ft of floor space and 15,154 sq.ft of display wall space Galleries of international standard containing artefacts, paintings, fibreglass figures – all a feast to the eyes and a source of knowledge. The topmost Gallery is where the visitors can relax and enjoy some of the rare dances of the North East.The museum which attracts more than 30,000 tourists from India and abroad visit the DBM annually, is also an major attraction for students of North East as it provides an exquisite centre for learning and information.
