Lets investigate whether print-on-demand can actually replace a salary — Merch by Amazon, Printful and Printify on Etsy and Shopify, and Redbubble. We work the real unit economics (a $19.99 Amazon tee nets roughly $4.63 after the base cost and the 15% referral fee), the volume needed to clear a living wage (~10,000 to 15,000 sales a year), the saturation reality (50,000+ results for 't-shirt'), the tier-gate that throttles new accounts, and the long-tail distribution where most designs sell near zero. About 70% of POD sellers run it part-time, around 24% of stores survive three years — but a real path exists, and we map exactly what separates it from the lottery.
