Clark Gable | Blindsided
Clark Gable was born 119 years ago today, and he still is one of the most iconic actors in the world. In a career that spanned three decades, his roles were as varied as they can be. He was a gansgter, a newspaper reporter, a pilot, a businessman, a Broadway director, a gambler, a plantation owner, a cowboy, and of course a dashing «visitor from Charleston.» He married the love of his life in 1939 and lost her just less than three years later. He never recovered, and the pain he felt was visible in his performances from then on. He left us 58 years ago, but his crooked smile lives on. In our hearts and in our memory, he will always be «The King.» Happy birthday, Clark!
So, here it is – my long-promised Clark Gable tribute. It took me about 87 years to finish it, but I hope it's worth the wait.
