After 60 years, the dream of building Atal Setu, India's longest bridge in Mumbai, is being fulfilled! But why did it take 60 years to complete it and what are the benefits of this bridge? Let us know! See, the idea of building Atal Bridge was first conceived in the year 1962. In this, a bridge was to be built from Shewari in South Mumbai to Chirle in New Mumbai. But it took 34 years for the Maharashtra government to prepare the feasibility report of this bridge! But after that this project remained on hold and finally in the year 2017, MMRDA revived this project and the work on this project started in 2018. And now after 5 years, 7500 laborers have built this bridge by working hard day and night. Due to this 21.8 km long bridge built at a cost of Rs 17,000 crore, the people of Mumbai will save about 1 hour of time and will also save 1 crore liters of petrol, which will ultimately reduce carbon emissions by about 26 thousand metric tons. And this will also give relief to Mumbai from the traffic problem.
