Iraq Flag 2024
The flag of Iraq consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width. From top to bottom, the colors are red, white, and black. Centered on the white stripe is a vertical, stylized Kufic script which reads "Allahu Akbar" (meaning "God is the greatest"). This phrase is in green, written in the Iraqi Arabic script.
The colors of the flag hold symbolic significance:
1. Red: Represents the courage and valor of the Iraqi people.
2. White: Symbolizes peace and the bright future for Iraq.
3. Black: Represents the oppression that Iraq has faced.
The "Allahu Akbar" inscription in green reflects the country's Islamic faith and the importance of religion in Iraqi society.
The current design of the Iraqi flag was adopted on January 22, 2008, following the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime and subsequent political changes in Iraq. This design replaced the previous flag used during Saddam Hussein's rule, which featured the Arabic words "Allahu Akbar" in Saddam's handwriting in the middle of the flag.
