Late transparent post…
This weekend I realized the level of commitment my daughter and I have had to a sport SHE dreamed of participating in and has remained committed consistently for almost 15 years.
After becoming a single mom when Miyah was 5, I was forced to take her out of extra curricular activities because I could no longer afford the swimming, ballet and gymnastics she was in since she was 2. Instead she joined praise dance at church until I could put our lives back together. Then, after we finally moved, one day Miyah said “Mom, you said I could get back into activities when we move”. I said ok what do you want to do and she said BE A CHEERLEADER! I called park districts and they said we were too late and suggested I call CHEER COMMAND…a local AllStar gym.
Through the years, many thought I was crazy spending that type of money for her to cheer. I remember saying , she’s going to get a scholarship AND SHE DID!
Here we are 15 years later, reminiscing on all the things we are and do as cheer parents!!!
